Spectrum Pacific Learning Company has been selected to receive an “Excellence in Practice Citation” for its entry Premier Services from the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
The ASTD Board of Directors will honor SPL and all of the winners at an awards ceremony Monday evening, May 17, 2010, in Chicago during ASTD’s International Conference & Exposition. The winning practices will be featured in a booklet distributed at the conference and posted on the ASTD website.
The Excellence in Practice category recognizes results achieved through the use of practices and solutions from the entire scope of workplace learning and performance.
SPL entered its practice of Premier Services (Growth, Customer Satisfaction, Profitability, and Innovation) under the Performance Improvement category. The implementation of these services allowed SPL to demonstrate an organizational shift from training to performance improvement in the following areas:
1) Enhancing employees’ understanding of the impact each person has on the state of the business at any given time,
2) Developing connections between the daily operations and the longer-term vision for the company, and
3) Establishing a foundation of shared priorities to increase collaboration and cooperation between departments.
This year, ASTD received 131 entries; 21 practices were selected to receive awards, and 38 were chosen for citations. Awards are being presented for proven practices that meet a demonstrated need, have appropriate design values, are aligned with other performance improvement initiatives, and deliver clear and measurable results for their organizations. Citations are being presented for practices from which much can be learned, but which have not yet reached the award level.
The ASTD awards program recognizes exemplary practices in workplace learning and performance and shares the learning of the winners worldwide.
